Almost Spring

The sunlight through the dew on the grass caught my eye this morning, more beautiful than diamonds. The other photos are of a hen Blackbird going about her food gathering almost oblivious of the daft human lying on the wet grass, and the first of our Tete-a-tete miniature daffodils blooming in the sun.

Alpine Choughs

Alpine Choughs are among my favourite birds - they're such characters. I spent over an hour today sitting in the sun watching them swoop and swirl over Les Deux Alpes, dropping and catching bits of bread and generally just revelling in their total mastery of the air. Beautiful.

Through the woods and over the fields

Another beautifully sunny walk today, through the 'new' woods and across the fields. I noticed today that the first tiny signs of Spring are there, if you use your eyes and take your time to find them.

Oaks

Down to the woods this afternoon, the ones we planted as bare-rooted sticks twelve years ago. Even the notoriously slow-growing oaks are now starting to look like real trees. Every time I walk there I feel like we did a good thing that freezing planting day back in December all those years ago.
