Sunflowers

Every year my DH plants a load of sunflower seeds, several different types, and it's always fun to see what comes out of each bud. This year's crop are just starting to flower - we have none of the red or black ones out yet, but I can tell from the stems that they are to come.

I love these flowers. We have them all over the garden, including around the vegetable patch where I can see them as I sit at my desk in the study. The flowers are gorgeous, and after the flowers the seeds attract greenfinches and goldfinches. One of the real joys of life :-)
