Lest we forget

In memory of all those who fought and died (and also those who fought and lived, which can be hard too). Whatever the side, and whatever the cause, each fallen soldier was someone's child.

I do not seek to glorify war. Indeed, since becoming a mother myself, the futility of war has become even more clear to me. But I honour bravery, and dedication, and courage, and my heart goes out to those still serving and to all the families who hold them dear.

I watched my son standing with his team at the rugby ground this morning as we observed the two minute silence, all those fine young lads, some old enough to have served in previous conflicts, and I prayed that they never have to experience war.
